About Our Concerts
The Southern Delaware Choral Society performs two concerts annually. There are typically two performances of each concert presented in a variety of Sussex County venues. We primarily perform classical vocal music and often partner with other area groups including the Mid Atlantic Symphony, the Chesapeake Brass and a variety of professional soloists and musicians.
We occasionally depart from classical music, usually in spring concerts. In recent years, we have performed Gilbert and Sullivan's Mikado, a patriotic program of original Civil War music accompanied by the composer and the Folk Song Suite by Lewes composer Roo Brown. We also performed Roo's haunting You Will Be With Us to conclude the Spring 2009 concert. Songs from some of Broadway's greatest shows were featured in the spring of 2010. Well-known works from Broadway's Golden Age by George and Ira Gershwin, Irving Berlin and Cole Porter will be performed at the Spring 2012 Concert.
