The annual Prison Concert at SCI was on December 1st. The Chapel was nearly SRO and the audience was very appreciative. The Ensemble also sang at Old Christ Church on December 18th.
Ensemble Thanks
To John and the members of the SDCS Ensemble :
I would like to thank you all for performing once again at Old Christ Church. The gospel selections were just perfect for the venue and with the exceptional acoustics, you all practically blew the roof off! As always, we thoroughly enjoyed Richard's surprise offering. I heard quite a few comments about how proficient he was in "singing" the Horn Concerto. Rose did a splendid job with her vocal offerings, and I heard many comments about her performance. Thanks go out also to Rebecca for her superb accompanying and her delightful vocal selections. God was good and blessed us with a very pleasant day, weather wise, and capped it off with a very welcome, refreshing breeze. (heavenly air-conditioning!)
The donations collected at the concert will go toward the upkeep of our wonderful old "grande dame", specifically repairing the wood shingle roof. So in addition to entertaining over 70 people, you have helped to keep our doors open. By the way, there are summer services at the church at 10 am until the first week in October and all denominations are welcome, if you'd like to visit.
I'm very proud to be a member of the SDCS, and you all are to be commended for performing above and beyond for the community.
Thanks again, and I hope you all have a restful and fun summer.
