Each year one or two talented area high school students are selected by audition to sing with the Choral Society. The students receive free voice lessons and have the opportunity to sing with both the Choral Society and the Ensemble, often performing solos. This year soprano Arielle Foster, from Milford High School, is singing with us. Our scholarship program was made possible by a generous donation in memory of local and world-famous composer and pianist Lee Mitchell and through generous annual donations from SDCS's many friends. Former Lee Mitchell Scholars have come from Cape Henlopen, Indian River, Sussex Central and Seaford High Schools. Auditions are held in the late spring for the next season's Lee Mitchell Scholars. Welcome Taylor!

Taylor Thornberg is a senior at Sussex Technical High School and is very excited to be the recipient of the Lee Mitchell Scholarship! She participates in her school's choir as well as two special audition only groups, Chamber Ensemble and Bella Voce. In her spare time she enjoys going to the beach, traveling, acting, and writing. She is enrolled in Media Broadcasting as her technical area and hopes to work on movie sets in the future as well as continue singing. She hasn't picked a college yet but continues touring colleges with Cinematography and Vocal Performance as possible majors.
